I'm trying to find some "charm" in the ugly buildings that can be found anywhere around the world, even in the most beautiful cities. It's a struggle and it takes a lot of imagination. 

Window Bars

 

There is simply no reason to install bars in front of a window ever. Not on the ground floor nor on any other floor. Unless of course you are planning to rent a room at a prison. There is nothing more depressing than to live in an apartment that has bars in front of its windows. If the sole purpose is to protect the apartment from intruders, then install solid blinds that can be opened when the tenant is home.
